The Forensic Hospital is the first of its kind in New South Wales and provides specialised forensic mental health programs for adult and adolescent males and females.

The Forensic Hospital is purpose built to support the diverse clinical needs of patients who have been, or are at risk of being, in contact with the criminal justice system. The hospital caters for patients requiring short-term intensive care right through to those who will call the hospital home for many years. Situated in spacious grounds, the low-rise design of the Forensic Hospital creates a relaxed community feel enhanced by open spaces and natural surrounds.

The Forensic Hospital is located at 1300 Anzac Parade, Malabar in Sydney, Australia and is a 12 minute drive from the centre of Sydney city, it is a short drive to Coogee Beach and Bondi Beach.

There is free on-site parking and the hospital is conveniently and regularly serviced by public transport buses.

Recreation, Education and Activities

A range of recreational programs are provided for patients in addition to the comprehensive range of clinical services. Recreational activities are conducted in the Recreation Building on the campus grounds and in individual units of the hospital. A variety of fitness classes and therapeutic activities are offered and led by qualified recreational support staff. Nursing and allied health professionals can accompany patients and provide additional input to these programs as required.

Computers and other learning facilities are available for the use of patients as well as a range of educational resources which are currently being developed.

Kiosk

The hospital has a kiosk located in the foyer of the Recreation Building for staff, visitors and patients. Coffee and light refreshments can be purchased here.

Patient Visiting Areas

The Forensic Hospital welcomes visits from families and carers. Comfortable visiting areas are a feature of the facility and allow for appropriate levels of privacy in line with the patient’s clinical need.
