Your work at the Forensic Hospital is crucial not just to the individuals but to the community at large. The patients at The Forensic Hospital need leading mental health practitioners to meet their complex social, emotional, cultural and health needs.

Poor health outcomes and social disadvantage are inextricably connected. Many of our patients have received poor prior education, low income, high levels of unemployment and poor self-esteem. Patients generally have a poor health status characterised by general neglect, substance abuse and mental illness.

The Forensic Hospital works with a variety of health and other community settings. The hospital fulfils an essential role in improving the health status of this group while also minimising the health consequences of incarceration on individuals, their families and the general community.

Research

Justice Health leads the way in cutting edge research in the area of forensic mental health and attracts internationally recognised clinical experts in this field. Justice Health encourages staff to participate in individual and group clinical supervision programs to enhance learning and professional development.
